According to the employment trends announced by the Honam Regional Statistics Office on the 13th, the number of employed people in the Gwangju area in September was 749,000, a decrease of 2,000 compared to the same month last year.
It recorded 754,000 in July and 751,000 in August, showing a decline for three consecutive months.
Looking at the increase and decrease by industry, the number increased by 10,000 (6.3%) in wholesale and retail, accommodation, and food service industries, 3,000 (0.9%) in business, personal, and public services, and 1,000 (1.2%) in electricity, transportation, communication, and finance industries.
On the other hand, manufacturing decreased by 11,000 (-10.2%), agriculture, forestry, and fisheries by 3,000 (-21.9%), and construction by 2,000 (-2.8%).
The number of non-wage workers decreased by 8,000 (-4.5%) to 173,000, among which self-employed decreased by 7,000 (-4.7%) and unpaid family workers by 1,000 (-3.2%).
The number of wage workers increased by 6,000 (1.0%) to 576,000. Among them, temporary workers decreased by 1,000 (-0.5%), while regular workers and daily workers increased by 4,000 (1.0%) and 2,000 (7.0%), respectively.
The number of employed people working less than 36 hours per week increased by 23,000 (16.2%) to 166,000, and those working more than that increased by 6,000 (1.0%) to 571,000.
The average weekly working hours increased by 0.9 hours to 39.9 hours.
The number of unemployed was 18,000, a decrease of 10,000 (-35.3%).
The unemployment rate fell by 1.2 percentage points to 2.4%.
The number of employed people in the Jeonnam area increased by 29,000 to 1,010,000, and the employment rate rose by 1.8 percentage points to 66.3%.
The number of unemployed was 14,000, a decrease of 1,000, and the unemployment rate recorded 1.4%, down 0.1 percentage points.
