Apple to Hold Special Event on 18th... Likely to Unveil New MacBook Pro with M1X Chip

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Apple will hold a special online event on the 18th. It is expected that Apple will announce a new MacBook Pro equipped with the ‘M1X’ silicon chip at this event.

On the 13th, Apple announced in an invitation titled ‘Unleashed’ that it will livestream a special event online from Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California, starting at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on the 18th (2 a.m. Korean time on the 19th).

Since Apple typically holds special events in the fall ahead of the year-end shopping season to unveil new products, it is anticipated that new products will be announced this time as well. Last month, Apple also held a special event to introduce new products such as the ‘iPhone 13’ series and ‘Apple Watch 7’.

At this event, the premium laptop MacBook Pro is expected to be unveiled. IT media outlet 9to5Mac and others predict that the highlight of this event will be the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the M1X processor.

The MacBook Pro, Apple’s high-end laptop, is expected to be redesigned for the first time since the release of the new model in 2016, featuring Apple’s in-house designed chip, ‘Apple Silicon.’ The new chip is a high-performance version of the ‘M1’ chip already introduced in lower-tier laptop models, with improvements expected in both the central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) performance.

The new MacBook Pro is expected to feature up to 64GB of RAM, a 10-core CPU, and 16 or 32 graphics cores, and is anticipated to include a mini LED display, HDMI port, SD card slot, and MagSafe charging.
