Seolhun to Lee Jae-myung: "Multiple flaws including scandals... If this continues, the One Team will have a critical defect"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Seol Hoon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out on the 12th that "the possibility of Lee Jae-myung, the governor of Gyeonggi Province and the party's confirmed presidential candidate, being detained has significantly increased, which is an objective fact."
Seol, who is the co-chairman of the former leader Lee Nak-yeon's campaign, appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the same day and responded to the host's question, "Will you correct your statement about the possibility of candidate Lee Jae-myung's detention?" by saying, "I do not want to correct it." Earlier, on the 7th, he had pointed out the candidate's "possibility of breach of trust" in a radio interview and said, "I can imagine a situation where he might be detained."
Regarding criticism from Lee Jae-myung's camp that he is "politicizing based on rumors," Seol said, "They call it rumors, but I have met at least three parties directly involved in the Daejang-dong case."
He continued, "I also heard testimonies about confinement in a psychiatric hospital," adding, "It is a different matter from the candidate's brother and unrelated to the primary election, so I do not intend to discuss it here." When asked if he could trust the parties involved, Seol said, "I can trust them. However, the parties themselves are afraid."
Meanwhile, Seol stated, "Due to various flaws that the candidate has, if things continue as they are, there will be a critical defect in the One Team. It is an objective fact that there are prior convictions, scandals, and numerous issues that cannot be counted one by one," and criticized, "Can we win the general election going forward in a state where the One Team is not functioning?"
He also criticized Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil's remark the previous day that "a coup occurred when the Democratic Party was divided," saying, "What time is this to be talking about a coup?" and "Who created the root cause of the party's division? Anyone can see now that Leader Song is unfair and biased toward one side."
