[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The 'Lee Jung-jae fever' is sweeping across the globe.

Lee Jung-jae played Seong Gi-hun in the Netflix original series "Squid Game," which was released on the 17th of last month. As the series gained worldwide popularity, interest in the lead actor has increased.

According to FlixPatrol, a global OTT content ranking site, on the 11th (Korean time), "Squid Game" ranked first in the "Netflix Global Top 10 TV Shows" category. This marks 18 consecutive days since September 23. Additionally, it ranked first in all 83 countries where Netflix is available.

On the 7th, Lee Jung-jae appeared on the American NBC flagship talk show "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," where he met the world-renowned host Jimmy Fallon. Fallon expressed interest, saying, "How did you play a villain in a Korean film with such a familiar face?"

Having been somewhat distant from social media, Lee Jung-jae opened his personal Instagram account for the first time in his 28-year career. Within one day of opening on the 2nd, he gained 1 million followers, and surpassed 3 million followers in 8 days, gaining popularity. He communicates by posting cheerful videos with Jung Woo-sung, behind-the-scenes footage of "Squid Game" filming, selfies, and more.

His next move is the film "Hunt." Expectations are high for what Lee Jung-jae will showcase through his directorial debut.
