[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] North Korea has begun promoting the achievements of Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party (the 10th).
The Rodong Sinmun published an editorial on the front page on the 10th titled "The Great Cause of the Workers' Party of Korea Advancing with the Banner of Putting the People First is Invincible," encouraging unity by stating, "Taking full responsibility for the fate of the people is the Party's greatest and most important task."
Another article promoted the achievements of General Secretary Kim, listing examples such as his special support of food and living expenses to Kaesong, which was locked down due to COVID-19 in August last year, and his visits to typhoon disaster areas, emphasizing dedication to the people. The Party was also compared to a "mother" to stress the principle of putting the people first.
North Korea's external propaganda outlet "Uri Minjokkkiri" displayed a banner on its homepage commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Party's founding with the phrase "Following the leadership of the invincible Workers' Party of Korea, we will achieve eternal victory." Clicking here allows access to a section featuring photos and videos of the three generations of the Kim family: Kim Il-sung, Kim Jong-il, and Kim Jong-un.
In particular, for General Secretary Kim, dozens of photos showcasing his major political activities were posted, from his appointment as the Party's First Secretary in April 2012 to the recent 3rd plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee held in June this year, enthusiastically praising him.
North Korea regards the founding of the Workers' Party as October 10, 1945, when the "Northwest Five Provinces Party Leaders and Enthusiasts Conference of the Communist Party of Korea" was held, marking the establishment of the "North Korean Branch of the Communist Party of Korea."
