[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Kim Su-young, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, announced on the 9th that he won the Grand Prize at the ‘Grassroots Legislative Awards Best Practice Contest’ hosted by the Local Autonomy Development Center.
The Grassroots Legislative Awards commemorate the 30th anniversary of local councils, the beginning of local autonomy, by soliciting excellent legislative activity cases from local council members nationwide over the past three years, selecting exemplary cases with achievements in each field, and awarding them.
Councilor Kim was recognized for his efforts to correct wrongful administration and strive for better governance by pointing out the problems of long-term private consignment monopolies and raising issues in the old downtown urban regeneration project, and was selected as the awardee in the administrative innovation category.
Councilor Kim said, “I believe this award is given as a meaning to serve the region more diligently,” and added, “I will continue to faithfully fulfill the original role of local councils and do my best to create a council that is always open and communicative for the residents of Seo-gu.”
