[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Among the volleyball player sisters Lee Jae-young and Lee Da-young, who were expelled from the domestic volleyball league due to school violence controversies and transferred to Greece, the younger sister Lee Da-young is accused of verbally abusing her husband after their marriage in 2018. Lee Da-young strongly denied her husband's claim that he is undergoing psychiatric treatment. She particularly asserted that her husband made unacceptable demands during the divorce process.
On the 9th, Sejong Law Firm, the legal representative of Lee Da-young, released a statement regarding Lee Da-young's position on her husband Jo's (surname Jo) claims made in a broadcast interview on the previous day (the 8th). According to the statement, Lee Da-young married Jo in April 2018 but separated four months later.
Lee Da-young further claimed that although Jo agreed to the divorce, he repeatedly made incomprehensible financial demands, such as requesting real estate or 500 million KRW in cash that Lee Da-young owned before marriage as a precondition.

She also alleged that Jo continuously harassed her by threatening to expose their married life if she did not comply with his demands, exploiting her status as a public figure.
Lee Da-young's side emphasized that married life should be protected as private, but Jo conducted interviews about their marriage without revealing his identity, which cannot be justified under any circumstances. They also pointed out that the broadcast interview content was a one-sided claim by Jo.
Regarding Jo's demand for a sincere apology from Lee Da-young, her side stressed that, considering his past behavior, Jo was only interested in threatening Lee Da-young to gain financial benefits.

Earlier, TV Chosun reported on the 8th an interview with Jo, who claimed he was receiving psychiatric treatment due to verbal abuse and domestic violence from Lee Da-young during their marriage.
According to the broadcast, Jo, who said he registered their marriage three months after meeting Lee Da-young in 2018, claimed that habitual verbal abuse from Lee Da-young continued within less than a year of their marriage.
According to KakaoTalk messages and Instagram DMs (direct messages) disclosed by Jo, Lee Da-young, saved as "Wife♥," said things like, "Delete all my photos. Hire a lawyer and sue. My mom told me to do the same. Or else I'll hire someone to get rid of you. Be prepared," "Have a heart attack and die," "I don't want to live with someone like you," and "I'll file for divorce."
Jo revealed this content and said, "I don't really understand why Lee Da-young acted like this. For example, we agreed that I would pick her up at the dorm by 7 PM, but I arrived at 7:01 PM. She exploded over that one minute..." He also repeatedly claimed that Lee Da-young behaved similarly even in the presence of his parents at home.
Jo stated that he has been diagnosed with depression, panic disorder, and insomnia due to Lee Da-young's verbal abuse and is currently undergoing treatment. He emphasized that although there were divorce negotiations through lawyers, Lee Da-young's side stopped responding after the school violence controversy.
Jo explained his reason for agreeing to the media interview, saying, "I want a sincere apology, not a formal 'Okay, sorry.' I want to know what she did wrong and receive a heartfelt apology."
Earlier, the twin sisters Lee Jae-young and Lee Da-young suspended their athletic activities in February after school violence allegations surfaced. Unable to return to the domestic league, the two recently signed contracts with the Greek PAOK Thessaloniki team and are scheduled to depart on the 16th.
