Neighbors Complain About Noisy Argument Before Death
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A university student drinking with friends on the rooftop of a multi-family house in Seoul fell to his death, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Dongjak Police Station in Seoul announced on the 9th that it has booked two friends of the deceased university student A (24), who fell from the rooftop of a four-story multi-family house in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, into a parking lot around 11:30 p.m. on the 1st, on charges of assault leading to death and is currently investigating.
According to the police, A and his friends, who were high school classmates, gathered on the rooftop to drink and got into an argument, which led to complaints from nearby residents. Afterwards, A fell from the rooftop, sustaining serious injuries to his head and other areas. He was transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately died.
The police are investigating the possibility that the friends who argued with A pushed him off the rooftop. The two friends reportedly deny the charges against them.
The police previously applied for arrest warrants for the two, but the prosecution dismissed them citing the possibility of an accidental fall.
A police official stated, "We are currently proceeding with related procedures as we need to reinvestigate whether assault leading to death actually occurred."
