Senior Students Kim Juntae and Lee Haesoon Appear as Actors in Broadcast Public Service Campaign
Dongseo University 'Evergreen Project' Bears Fruit ... Only New Students Aged 65 and Over
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Did you know that there is a ‘Film University’ in Gijang-gun, Busan, where young aspiring actors cannot even get admitted?
The first generation of new actors has emerged from the ‘Evergreen Film University.’ All of these new actors are approaching their seventies.
The ‘Evergreen Project,’ operated collaboratively by Dongseo University and Gijang-gun, is progressing smoothly by successfully debuting new actors.
Evergreen Agency announced on the 7th that “Kim Joon-tae and Lee Hae-soon, the first generation of Evergreen Film University, passed the audition for the public service advertisement ‘Na Buteo Challenge’ and have completed filming the commercial.”
The advertisement will be broadcast through Gyeongnam MBC.
‘Na Buteo Challenge’ is a COVID-19 prevention campaign hosted by the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education and organized by MBC Gyeongnam.
The filmed advertisement conveys the message that before the full return to in-person classes for elementary, middle, and high schools, each member of the school community should follow quarantine guidelines with the mindset of ‘Prevention starts with me’ to create a safe school together.
Kim Joon-tae, in his 60s and cast in this advertisement, played the role of a principal embodying the solemnity of being on the front line of school quarantine.
Lee Hae-soon, also in her 60s, played the role of a citizen anxiously watching the COVID-19 situation on TV news.
Kim Joon-tae, appearing in his first commercial advertisement, said, “I challenged myself because I wanted to capture the second half of my life on video and share it with the world. I am grateful to Evergreen Film University for giving me this opportunity.”
New actress Lee Hae-soon said, “I want to continue my activities as a film actress in the future.”
Both new actors took on the ‘Na Buteo Challenge’ non-face-to-face audition at the suggestion of ‘I.A.LAB,’ which jointly operates Evergreen Agency.
As exemplary students of Evergreen Film University, they submitted video materials including facial expressions to the advertising production company with the agency’s help, and after screening by the producers, they were selected as male and female actors respectively.
Evergreen Film University, where Kim Joon-tae and Lee Hae-soon belong, teaches acting, singing, dancing, and more to seniors aged 65 and older residing in Gijang-gun. It is a senior actor training school that helps realize the dream of becoming an actor.
The trainees are also affiliated with Evergreen Agency and can participate in casting for film, broadcasting, and advertising shoots.
Kim Hyung-woo, head of the Regional Cooperation Center at Dongseo University, who oversees the Evergreen Project, said, “We plan to lead Evergreen Film University and the agency to grow as local enterprises.”
Kim also said, “We plan to link Evergreen Film University with Dongseo University’s LINC+ Project’s community innovation mega-project program to promote an Evergreen outdoor performance jointly planned by Dongseo University students and film university actors.”
A Gijang-gun official explained, “The Evergreen Project focuses on ‘a happy life for seniors,’ supporting seniors to discover their own value, transform their lives, and overcome health and poverty issues.”
Detailed programs include ▲ Evergreen Film University ▲ Evergreen Agency ▲ Evergreen Village Media Education, and the project is conducted as part of the 2021 Community Coexistence and Cooperation Support Project by the Busan Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute until 2022.
