KB Kookmin Card "KB Pay App Not Required to Use Transportation Card Payment"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] KB Kookmin Card announced on the 7th that it has enhanced the convenience services of its comprehensive financial platform, 'KB Pay.' The 'mobile transportation service' has been improved, and a 'remote payment service' that allows remote payment of academy fees has been added.

The KB Pay mobile transportation service has been improved to allow postpaid public transportation use by tapping the back of a smartphone on public transportation terminals such as buses and subways, even when ▲KB Pay is not running ▲the smartphone screen is off ▲or data communication is disconnected. This service is available to customers who own smartphones running Android OS version 5.0 or higher. After accessing the KB Pay application (app), users can go to More → Manage Payment Methods → Mobile Transportation Service menu, agree to the terms, select a payment card, and complete identity verification.

Customers who use public transportation through this service after entering the event by the end of this month will earn 1,250 KB Kookmin Card points, equivalent to one free basic fare for Seoul public transportation (bus, subway), for every 5 rides, up to a maximum of 5,000 points during the event period.

Additionally, the membership services available through the KB Pay app have expanded from the existing two brands, CU and GS25, to include over 20 new brands such as Hyundai Department Store, Hyundai Oilbank, LG Electronics, and Asiana Airlines.

The newly introduced remote payment service supports remote payment via KB Pay after confirming payment details through notification talk or push messages without visiting the merchant. Currently, it is available for academy fee payments at about 20,000 academy merchant locations, and the number of available merchants is expected to increase. Customers wishing to use the service can choose from the following methods: ▲calling the KB Pay app from the payment window of affiliated partners where the service is available and making a payment ▲registering for automatic monthly payments via KB Pay in advance ▲receiving push notifications after prior consent and making immediate payments via KB Pay.

A KB Kookmin Card official stated, "We will continue to strive to elevate KB Pay as a differentiated, customer-centric comprehensive financial platform by enhancing platform competitiveness based on digital innovation and expanding collaboration with various financial and non-financial partners."

Meanwhile, KB Kookmin Card is running an event until the 31st of this month for KB Pay users, offering real-time point accumulation benefits of up to 20,000 points for each payment made with KB Pay. During the event period, customers who pay with KB Pay at online and offline merchants and check the notification box in the KB Pay app will receive points ranging randomly from 20 to 20,000 points. Points can be accumulated up to 30 times during the event period.

Also, customers who make three or more payments at offline merchants using KB Pay during the event period will be entered into a draw to receive point rewards for a total of 1,111 winners: ▲10 million points (1 winner) ▲1 million points (10 winners) ▲10,000 points (100 winners) ▲1,000 points (1,000 winners).
