[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] A tragic accident occurred in Changwon, Gyeongnam, where a worker in his 60s, Mr. A, was crushed to death by a 700kg high-voltage motor frame.

According to the Changwon branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Changwon Jungbu Police Station on the 5th, at around 2:55 PM on the 4th, at the high-voltage motor processing section of Hyosung Heavy Industries Changwon Plant 3, a crane was used to lift a high-voltage motor frame to remove foreign substances underneath.

During this process, the lifted frame fell about 1.2 meters and struck Mr. A, who was working underneath.

Mr. A received emergency treatment from paramedics who arrived following a report from a fellow worker and was transported to a nearby hospital, but he died en route.

It is known that Mr. A had been working as a skilled contract worker processing high-voltage motor frames for one-year terms at the company even after retiring about three years ago.

The Changwon branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor has currently issued a work suspension order for the high-voltage motor processing section, and together with the police, is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, including whether safety regulations were properly followed at the time.
