Expansion of Campervan Sales Channels Including Home Shopping and Convenience Stores
As camping continues to gain popularity in the domestic leisure market, the growth of the campervan market is also accelerating. Along with the diversification of sales channels, Renault Samsung Motors is putting great effort into maintaining the quality of the Renault Master campervan.
According to industry sources on the 5th, home shopping has recently shown remarkable growth as a sales channel for campervans. Home&Shopping introduced a campervan based on the Renault Master 15-seater bus last June.
The Renault Master 15-seater bus is well-known as a school transport vehicle, but recently most of them are sold for campervan conversions. This is due to the amendment of related laws in February last year, allowing all vehicle types to be converted into campervans, which further increased their popularity.
The Renault Master 15-seater bus was also featured in a sales broadcast on GS My Shop, GS Retail’s T-commerce sales channel. The company explained that the Renault Master bus starts at a price in the 40 million KRW range, which is cheaper than competing models, allowing more budget to be spent on conversion costs.
In addition, in April, Public Shopping introduced a campervan based on the Kia Bongo 3, and NS Home Shopping showcased the Jibacoconet campervan.
The reason for attempting campervan sales through home shopping is that, compared to other vehicle types, there are many parts that need to be shown visually in detail and explained. Rather than choosing based solely on design, performance, or brand, showing usability and actual usage scenes can increase consumer engagement and create effective advertising.
Recently, campervans have also been sold at convenience stores. Considering the 'car camping' craze among the MZ generation (born between 1980 and 2000), FF Campervan introduced a small campervan converted from the Ray, and decided to use the Seven Eleven convenience store as the sales channel, targeting the appropriate buyer demographic.
Many customers also directly see and purchase through leisure expos or conversion companies. As the leisure market, including camping, grows every year, various events are held. At the recent International Outdoor Camping & Leisure Sports Festival held in Suwon, campervans converted from SsangYong Motor’s New Rexton Sports Khan and Tivoli were newly unveiled.
Since most campervans require conversion of existing vehicles, visiting conversion companies directly is the simplest way to purchase. In the case of Renault Samsung Motors, to manage quality, they maintain close communication with various conversion companies to ensure quality is preserved throughout the conversion process of the Renault Master bus. Recently, first-tier financial institutions have introduced various campervan loan products, allowing customers to use installment plans just like when purchasing regular vehicles.
A Renault Samsung Motors official said, "Campervans have different purchase points compared to other general vehicle types, so manufacturers are also considering sales channels carefully. Furthermore, due to the unique nature of conversions, we are making various efforts to create synergy with companies and guarantee quality."
