[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byung-nae) is expanding living convenience facilities including Jinwol National Sports Center.
Nam-gu announced on the 5th that a parking lot and a two-story National Sports Center will be built near the Jinwol Complex Sports Ground, and administrative complex centers equipped with administrative welfare centers, community childcare sharing centers, small libraries, and parking lots will be established in Hyodeok-dong and Songam-dong respectively.
Nam-gu was selected for three complex projects in the ‘2022 Living SOC Complexification Contest’ hosted by the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and plans to invest 18.442 billion KRW from next year to create the facilities.
First, in Jinwol-dong, the Jinwol National Sports Center will be built on the boundary site of the Jinwol Complex Sports Ground, which is currently under construction.
With a total project cost of 5.732 billion KRW, a two-story gymnasium where sports activities such as table tennis and badminton can be enjoyed will be constructed, along with a residential parking lot accommodating about 70 vehicles.
After the Jinwol Complex Sports Ground and National Sports Center are built, the number of facility users is expected to increase, potentially causing illegal parking issues. This project aims to improve parking convenience for residents living near the facilities and resolve inconveniences caused by illegal parking.
In Hyodeok-dong, the 17th administrative district in the area, a new Hyodeok-dong Administrative Complex Center combining a community childcare sharing center, residential parking lot, and administrative welfare center will be newly built with a budget of 6.92 billion KRW, consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors.
Currently, the Hyodeok-dong Administrative Welfare Center is temporarily housed in a rented building space due to recent subdivision, and with population inflow increasing due to the development of the Hyocheon district and a severe shortage of community childcare sharing centers in Hyodeok-dong, this project aims to address these issues.
The Songam-dong Administrative Welfare Center, which had inconveniences for residents due to aging facilities and lack of parking space, will be newly built in Hyocheon 1 District with one basement floor and four above-ground floors.
The current site of the Songam-dong Administrative Welfare Center is included in the advanced cluster development project area promoted by Gwangju City, making it unsuitable for use as an administrative welfare center. Additionally, with a concentration of public housing in Hyocheon 1 District, the need for relocation has been steadily raised.
The Songam-dong Administrative Complex Center project will invest 5.79 billion KRW, simultaneously establishing a small library, residential parking lot, and administrative welfare center to build cultural life infrastructure.
A Nam-gu official stated, “We will do our best to promote the project so that all residents can enjoy a prosperous life by establishing various living SOCs throughout the district.”
