[Featured Stock] Dexter Hits All-Time High
Dominant Power in VFX, Sound, and Video Correction
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Dexter Studio, a visual effects (VFX) and content specialist company, is showing strong performance. The news that it has further solidified its mutual cooperation with the global entertainment streaming service Netflix through Partner Day appears to have influenced its stock price. Dexter is praised not only for its CG and VFX technology but also for its dominant capabilities in sound and video correction. As the scope of content expands to advertising, cinematic, and digital signage, it is establishing itself as an essential course in the video content industry.
As of 11 a.m. on the 5th, Dexter is trading at 17,900 KRW, up 9.82% from the previous trading day. During the session, Dexter reached an all-time high of 17,950 KRW.
Jinyoung Park, Director of Dexter Studio's DI Division, and Taeyoung Choi, CEO of its subsidiary Livetone, attended the 'Netflix Partner Day' held online via live broadcast on the morning of the 29th of last month, sharing various stories about their collaboration with Netflix and future plans.
Dexter Studio's DI Division, launched in 2015, is responsible for color correction and color grading in digital post-production. It participates in about 40% of domestic theatrical releases annually, including tentpole films, as well as TV dramas and various OTT content. It has collaborated with Netflix on numerous works starting with 'Kingdom Season 1,' followed by 'Time to Hunt,' 'Space Sweepers,' and 'Night in Paradise.'
They also directly mentioned the recently signed partnership with Netflix. In July, the DI Division and Livetone signed a long-term partnership to strengthen post-production collaboration with Netflix. Prior to this, in June, they expanded an OTT-exclusive studio worth 2.5 billion KRW.
The collaboration between Dexter Studio's DI Division, Livetone, and Netflix is expected to continue. They are preparing to launch works they participated in within the year, such as 'Hellbound' (DI Division) and 'The Silent Sea' (DI Division and Livetone), and also took part in the recently released 'Squid Game' (Livetone) project.
Among these, 'Squid Game' is the first Korean content to rank second globally on Netflix and first in the U.S. Netflix, receiving intense attention. The sound work applied Dolby Atmos technology, delivering the extreme survival game with delicately tuned sound that brings vivid realism.
In June, Dexter completed the acquisition of Crema Worldwide, with which it had established a collaborative relationship to strengthen its new media division strategy, in the third quarter. Kiwoom Securities expects synergy by combining Dexter's existing media content production capabilities and VFX technology with short-form commercial content production and metaverse-based immersive video joint development investments.
