Imisuk, Vice Chairman of Jeonju City Council, Receives Korea Local Autonomy Development Award


[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Imi-sook Lee, Vice Chairperson of Jeonju City Council (Hyoja 4·5-dong), received the Grand Prize in the Basic Autonomy category at the 2021 Korea Local Autonomy Development Awards ceremony held at the Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall in Seoul on the 5th.


The Korea Local Autonomy Development Awards are given by the Korea Local Autonomy Development Institute to members of the National Assembly, heads of local governments, local council members, superintendents of education, public officials, and social organizations who have contributed to the development of local autonomy and educational autonomy.


Vice Chairperson Lee has led various achievements through continuous public opinion gathering and legislative activities, including the construction of the Hyoja 4-dong Municipal Library, designation of Jeonju Hanok Village as a fire prevention zone, selection as a tourism hub city, formation of a citizen public deliberation committee for the Daehan Textile site, and reinstatement following the failure of employment succession for cleaning workers.


Based on these efforts, she was elected as the first female vice chairperson in the history of the Jeonju City Council.


Vice Chairperson Lee said, “I am honored to receive this award thanks to the generous encouragement and interest of the citizens,” and added, “I will continue to do my best in legislative activities for the development of Jeonju City and the improvement of residents' welfare.”
