Director Sohee Lee of National Medical Center Lectures on 'Current Status and Countermeasures of Increased Depression Due to COVID-19'


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will hold an online symposium on the theme of "The Current Status and Countermeasures of Increased Depression Due to COVID-19 Blue."


The event will be live-streamed for about two hours from 2 p.m. on the 6th through the YouTube channel "Gangdong-gu Mental Health Welfare Center," and anyone can participate.


Held in commemoration of Mental Health Day (October 10), this symposium was organized to promote the mental health of residents by seeking accurate information, understanding the current status, and exploring countermeasures for COVID-19 Blue, as the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has increased the number of people experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties such as anxiety and depression.


In Part 1, Dr. Lee So-hee, head of the Department of Psychiatry at the National Medical Center, will chair the session titled "The Current Status and Countermeasures of Increased Depression Due to COVID-19," featuring presentations on ▲ Current Status of COVID-19 Blue (Hyun Jin-hee, President of the Korean Trauma Stress Society) ▲ Impact of COVID-19 on Depression (Son Chang-woo, Research Fellow at Seoul Institute) ▲ Countermeasures for COVID-19 Blue (Lee Hae-woo, Director of Seoul Metropolitan Mental Health Welfare Center).


In Part 2, panel discussions and Q&A sessions will be held regarding various approaches and directions for countermeasures against COVID-19 Blue.


Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "Mental health problems are worsening due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and the demand for mental health services is increasing," adding, "I hope that this symposium will diagnose the current status of increased depression and facilitate diverse discussions on countermeasures."
