Changwon City Wins 'Grand Prize' at 2021 Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Festival At the 2021 Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Festival, the 'Gieoknamu Volunteer Group' based in Changwon City received the grand prize, along with excellence and encouragement awards.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 1st that a local volunteer organization received the 'Grand Prize' at the '2021 Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Festival.'


The Gyeongnam Volunteer Festival is a volunteer competition that selects and awards creative and outstanding volunteers (or organizations) to spread excellent volunteer activity cases.


The organization selected for the Grand Prize was the 'Gieoknamu Volunteer Group,' which contributed to alleviating various leisure activity needs and reducing feelings of isolation and helplessness among dementia elderly by conducting the weekly regular 'Reading Aloud' program for dementia seniors at the Jinhae Dementia Relief Center.


In addition, the Changwon City Family Volunteer Group received the Excellence Award for their 'Eco-friendly Project Made with Family' activities, Hanwha Defense Corporate Volunteer Group Dasarang received the Excellence Award for 'Installation of Safety Home Kits for Single Women Households,' and the Citizen Biodiversity Survey Group received the Encouragement Award for their 'Accompanying Silverfish, Salmon, and Otters' activities aimed at biodiversity conservation.


Seo Ho-gwan, Director of the Social Welfare Division, said, "The city will continue to make greater efforts to lead social change through volunteer activities close to citizens and to revitalize community activities."
