Kim Kihyun: "Exiling the Main Opposition Floor Leader? Lee Jaemyung Is Arrogant and Insolent"

[Asia Economy, Reporter Na Juseok] Kim Kihyun, floor leader of the People Power Party, strongly criticized Lee Jaemyung, Gyeonggi Province Governor and presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, calling him "arrogant and insolent."

On the 29th, during an emergency party briefing held at the National Assembly, Kim stated, "Many citizens must feel uneasy about the harsh and abusive language coming from someone considered a leading presidential candidate," and added, "Based on his recent words and actions, it seems as if he already believes he has become the president."

He went on to say, "Not only did Governor Lee mock the main opposition party's name, but he also said he would exile the floor leader to an island in Antarctica." Kim then joked to his fellow lawmakers, "I came to bid farewell before being exiled. I'll escape and return like Papillon."

Earlier that day, at a forum on the development profit recapture system held at the Yeouido Central Veterans Hall, Governor Lee had remarked that he would subject Kim Kihyun to 'Wiri Anchi' (a form of exile where a criminal is confined within a thorn fence to prevent escape), and that he would impose 'Bonggo Pajik' (a punishment meaning dismissal and sealing of an official's office for corruption) on Lee Junseok, the People Power Party leader.

Kim Kihyun described Governor Lee as a "tyrant" and demanded, "Before the Democratic Party tries to advise other parties, it should control its own presidential candidate to prevent reckless behavior." He continued, "Governor Lee himself publicly confessed that he designed the Daejang-dong project. If he was the designer, then he is at the center of the scandal-who else would be?"
