Jeju Air cabin crew members from the Busan region are conducting invasive plant removal activities on the morning of the 29th to preserve the clean environment of Eulsukdo, a representative domestic migratory bird habitat.
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jeju Air cabin crew members in the Busan area announced on the 29th that they participated in the removal of the invasive plant "Yangmiyeokchwi" growing around the wetlands at Busan Eulsukdo Migratory Bird Park, a representative migratory bird habitat in Korea.
The event, held as part of Jeju Air cabin crew's volunteer activity "Jeju Air Neoyongnayong ('You and Me' in Jeju dialect) Campaign," was attended by 20 cabin crew members from the Busan area, following quarantine guidelines and social distancing measures.
Yangmiyeokchwi is a perennial plant of the Asteraceae family that disrupts the wetland ecosystem balance by destroying the habitats of native species and reducing biodiversity due to its strong reproductive ability.
In addition to removing invasive plants, Jeju Air cabin crew have been visiting Eulsukdo Migratory Bird Park every Saturday from September 18 to October 16 to pick up trash. They plan to continue their nature guardian activities to preserve the clean environment of the Nakdong River estuary migratory bird habitat.
Meanwhile, since January 2016, Jeju Air cabin crew have been conducting continuous volunteer activities by visiting local children's welfare centers and senior welfare centers every month. Since 2018, they have been making and delivering comfort dolls and cotton masks to childcare facilities nationwide, including Jeju Island and the Yeong and Honam regions.
