[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The National Credit Union Federation of Korea (NACUFOK) will conduct on-site training for Saemaeul Geumgo in Uganda starting from the 29th, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The training is designed to establish a sustainable financial inclusion model in Uganda and actively attract new members. The target areas are two districts and 107 villages where Saemaeul Geumgo has been established and operated in Uganda.
Through this training, Saemaeul Geumgo expects to grow as a regional financial institution representing the 'Parish' unit. Parish is an administrative division unit in Uganda. NACUFOK's inclusive finance model also centers around the Parish.
Recent policies implemented by the Ugandan government are also seen as favorable. The Ugandan government has launched a new 'Parish Development Model' to address poverty issues affecting 68% of all households.
