Ulsan Office of Education Purchased Many Products from Companies Employing Disabled Persons... Achieved 1.5 Times the Purchase Target for Products from 'Pyojun Business Sites'

Ulsan Office of Education Purchased Many Products from Companies Employing Disabled Persons... Achieved 1.5 Times the Purchase Target for Products from 'Pyojun Business Sites' Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has been found to have purchased a large amount of products from companies employing people with disabilities.

It was investigated that Ulsan Office of Education purchased 1.5 times more products from certified workplaces for the disabled than the legally mandated purchase target last year.

According to data on the "2020 Purchase Performance of Products from Certified Workplaces for the Disabled by Metropolitan and Provincial Offices of Education" received by Assemblyman Kang Deuk-gu of the National Assembly Education Committee from the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 28th, Ulsan Office of Education met the government-notified target ratio of 0.6%.

The priority purchase system for products from certified workplaces for the disabled mandates that national institutions, local governments, and public institutions prioritize purchasing products from certified workplaces for the disabled when procuring goods or services, according to the "Act on the Promotion of Employment and Vocational Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons."

Certified workplaces for the disabled are places that employ a certain percentage or more of people with disabilities and provide wages above the minimum wage, creating a favorable working environment for people with disabilities.

By having public institutions purchase products produced at certified workplaces for the disabled, market access is supported, thereby providing stable jobs for people with disabilities.

The Disabled Employment Act requires public institutions to purchase at least 0.6% of their total procurement amount from products produced by certified workplaces for the disabled to expand market access for these workplaces.

The legally mandated purchase target ratio was doubled from 0.3% in 2019 to 0.6% last year.

Ulsan Office of Education met the purchase target ratio for two consecutive years, increasing from 0.43% in 2019 to 0.92% in 2020.

An official from Ulsan Office of Education said, "We will continue to increase purchases of products from workplaces for the disabled to contribute to the job stability of disabled workers and help expand jobs for people with disabilities."
