From September 29 to October 5, 60 ASEAN Buyers to Participate in West Busan Online Export Consultation Venue
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City is directly taking the lead in helping companies develop non-face-to-face export channels.
From the 29th to the 5th of next month, Busan City will hold the '2021 ASEAN Buyer Invitation Online Consultation' at the Western Busan Online Export Consultation Center in Gangseo-gu.
In March, Busan established the nation's largest online export consultation center to strengthen support for small and medium-sized enterprises' non-face-to-face exports, and this year, for the first time, it is hosting a large-scale online export consultation targeting the ASEAN region.
About 80 small and medium-sized enterprises from Busan and about 60 buyers from four ASEAN countries?Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, and Malaysia?will participate in this consultation.
Starting with Indonesia on the 29th, one-on-one online consultations will be held by country: Vietnam on the 30th, Singapore on October 1st, and Malaysia on the 5th.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun plans to preside over export promotions and directly promote products through video calls with buyers from the participating countries.
Additionally, for the first time among local governments, he will hold a video consultation with the heads of the six ASEAN branches of the World Korean Trade Association (OKTA).
Mayor Park organized the consultation to find ways for local companies to overcome the COVID-19 crisis through exports.
They plan to discuss the ASEAN market environment and trends during the COVID-19 era, global expansion strategies for Busan products, cooperation plans to revitalize the local economy, and various approaches to developing ASEAN market channels.
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “Including the four participating countries this time, the ASEAN region holds an important position for Busan companies in terms of both demand and supply, and its potential is limitless. Along with hosting the 2030 World Expo in Busan, we will cooperate so that Busan and ASEAN can develop together.”
ASEAN is an economic bloc emerging as the world's sixth-largest single market, and the participating countries in this consultation rank within the top five in terms of Busan companies' export amounts to ASEAN.
