Outdoor Fine Dust Shelter Near Isu Station for 12 Adults to Use Simultaneously to Be Completed Early October... IoT Sensors Activate When External Fine Dust Levels Rise to Block Dust via Air Circulation... ▲Heated Benches ▲Wireless Fast Chargers for Smartphones ▲Air Quality Information Monitors and Other Amenities Installed
Perspective view of the 'Fine Dust Safety Smart Shelter' planned to be installed in front of Exit 12 of Isu Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is installing an outdoor air purifier called the ‘Fine Dust Safe Smart Shelter’ in front of Isu Station on Subway Lines 4 and 7.
This project was selected as a 2021 resident participation budget project and is being promoted by collecting opinions from local residents. It will be installed near Exit 12 of Isu Station, an area vulnerable to vehicle exhaust emissions adjacent to Dongjak-daero (8 lanes, two-way).
The Safe Smart Shelter is an outdoor resting area capable of simultaneous air circulation and purification, measuring ▲5.5m in width ▲2.5m in length ▲3.55m in height, and can accommodate up to 12 people based on average adult size.
The operating principle is that when the external fine dust concentration rises, its built-in IoT sensor automatically activates the ‘air density controller’ to create an air density layer inside the shelter higher than the surrounding air, and purified air is delivered to the lower part of the shelter through the air purification device.
In particular, it features an air filter capable of reducing ultrafine dust by more than 99%, minimizing residents’ exposure to fine dust.
Additionally, it will provide convenience to residents by installing ▲heated benches to escape the cold ▲wireless fast chargers for smartphones ▲monitors that can provide various living information such as air quality data.
The district plans to complete the installation of the Fine Dust Safe Smart Shelter by early next month. For more details, contact the Clean Environment Division of Dongjak-gu Office.
Gwak Dong-yoon, head of the Clean Environment Division, said, “Through the Fine Dust Safe Smart Shelter, we will provide residents with a space to avoid fine dust and strive to expand efforts to create a comfortable breathing environment.”
The district is implementing various policies to reduce fine dust, including ▲fine dust traffic lights that provide real-time fine dust information ▲support for installing smart air showers at district-run daycare centers ▲operation of an IoT-based construction site dust monitoring system ▲environmental education to raise awareness about fine dust.
