A1 Size, 2×8 Fold, 2000 Copies Produced and Distributed... Promotion of Resident Participation Support Project Status... Includes Landmarks, Related Organizations, and 51 Group Initiatives
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjang Hyun) is producing the '2021 Village Community Map' and distributing it through district community service centers.
The map has been produced for five consecutive years since 2017 to revitalize village community projects. This year, a staff member of the Yongsan-gu Village Autonomy Center personally drew the map as a talent donation.
The map is A1 size, folded 2×8 panels, with a total of 2,000 copies produced on the 17th. The front side features a map of Yongsan-gu with landmarks and related institutions marked, along with a list of village projects by neighborhood. The back side includes photos and descriptions of each project’s activities, as well as the procedures for the village community public contest projects.
Kim Kyung-wook, head of the Yongsan-gu Village Autonomy Center, said, “This year, the person in charge of promoting village projects drew the map by hand with affection for the village. Although smartphones and apps have become part of daily life, I feel on site that a paper village map is very helpful in informing residents about the projects.”
Currently, a total of 51 village community public contest projects are underway. The number of projects by category are: Making Neighbors (Seed Stage) 16, Creating Our Village (Sprout Stage) 17, Activity Support (Growth Stage) 5, Dong Resident Participation 10, Resident Activity Hub Space Support 2, and Alley-based Community Creation 1. The district provided differential funding ranging from 1 million to 5 million KRW per project category this year.
Participants in the village community projects were recruited in February and selected in May. The Making Neighbors projects run until October 31, and other projects continue until November 30.
Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “When I put the 51 village community projects together on one Yongsan-gu map, the structure and flow of the projects become clear at a glance. I believe residents who see the map will remember the community projects and be inspired to plan unique public contest projects.”
The district has been continuing village community projects since 2013. The 2021 Yongsan-gu Village Community Map image file is scheduled to be posted on the Yongsan-gu Village Autonomy Center website in October. The website is currently being revamped.
