According to Seoul City, compared to the same time period, this is 329 more than the previous day (27th) with 672 cases, 370 more than last Tuesday (21st) with 631 cases, and 211 more than two weeks ago (14th) with 790 cases. The final total number of cases for the entire day (24 hours) was 842 on the 27th, 644 on the 21st, and 808 on the 14th.
The spread of COVID-19 in Seoul is worsening around the Chuseok holiday period.
From the day after the holiday, the 23rd, through the 27th, the highest records for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were set consecutively for five days. In particular, the 1,222 cases on the 24th is the highest daily record across all days of the week.
On the 28th as well, once the final tally is released, it is expected to surpass the 808 cases on the 14th, setting a new record for Tuesdays, making it likely that the highest daily record for the day of the week will be broken for six consecutive days.
The number of tests was a record high of 110,589 on the 23rd, then remained in the 100,000 range on the 24th, 80,000 range on the 25th, and dropped to the 50,000 range on the 26th, before rebounding to 98,428 on the 27th.
As of 9 p.m. on the 28th, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Seoul was provisionally counted at 99,498, approaching the 100,000 mark. The final total number of cases for the day will be compiled based on data as of midnight on the 29th and announced in the morning.
