[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Lauren Powell Jobs, the wife of the late Apple founder Steve Jobs, will invest $3.5 billion (approximately 4.13 trillion KRW) over the next 10 years to address the climate change crisis.
According to the Associated Press, a spokesperson for the charity organization 'Emerson Collective,' operated by Powell Jobs, announced this yesterday.
The funds will be used through the Waverly Street Foundation, established by Powell Jobs, to support projects aiding marginalized areas heavily affected by climate change.
The Emerson Collective spokesperson said, "The focus will be on housing, transportation, food security, and health."
Emerson Collective has been engaged in charitable work focusing on education, immigration reform, and environmental issues.
It has also invested in fields such as film, TV programs, and journalism. Because of this, in September last year, former U.S. President Donald Trump targeted Powell Jobs, who invested in the news magazine The Atlantic.
Former President Trump criticized on Twitter, "Steve Jobs would not have liked that his wife is spending the inheritance on a failing far-left magazine," calling it "a magazine run by fraudsters that spews 'fake news' and 'hate.'"
