Expansion from the Existing 3-Division System to a 5-Division System
Appointment of the Director of the Housing and Land Office as Headquarters Chief
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that it will expand and reorganize the Public Housing Headquarters to ensure the smooth implementation of the housing supply plan under the 2·4 measures and others.
The Public Housing Headquarters will be expanded from the existing three departments under the Public Housing Promotion Team to five departments: Public Land Planning Division, Public Land Management Division, Public Land Investigation Division, Urban Housing Supply General Division, and Urban Housing Supply Cooperation Division.
The Public Land Planning Division and Public Land Management Division will be solely responsible for the development of public land, including large-scale public housing districts such as the 3rd New Towns and small to medium-sized public housing districts in the metropolitan and local areas.
The Public Land Investigation Division will be in charge of nationwide new public land investigation tasks directly conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, following the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) innovation plan announced on June 7.
This includes discovering and investigating new public land candidates, comprehensively analyzing housing demand and development conditions, and selecting new candidates suitable for development.
The Ministry explained, "Since the investigation of new public land candidates will be directly conducted by the Ministry, illegal activities such as leakage of undisclosed information are expected to be prevented in advance."
Additionally, the Urban Housing Supply General Division and Urban Housing Supply Cooperation Division will be responsible for urban housing supply tasks, including urban public housing complex projects, residential regeneration innovation districts, small-scale housing maintenance projects, and public direct implementation maintenance projects promoted through the 2·4 measures.
Kim Su-sang, Director General of the Housing and Land Office at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (also serving as the head of the Public Housing Headquarters), said, "With this reorganization of the Public Housing Headquarters, we will accelerate and steadily implement the housing supply measures announced so far to stabilize housing for the underprivileged and the housing market."
