[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Regarding the so-called 'Daejang-dong Development Project Favoritism Allegation,' former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon urged Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung, saying, "If you are truly innocent, accept a special prosecutor investigation and call Prosecutor General Han Dong-hoon to conduct the investigation."
On the 28th, former Professor Jin posted on his Facebook, stating, "I cannot understand why Governor Lee refuses a special prosecutor investigation while labeling this case as the 'Gwang-gab Gate'."
He said regarding the Daejang-dong development project favoritism allegation, "The mayor of Seongnam set up a house gambling den in the mayor's office, organizing a rigged Go-Stop game using the people's hard-earned money as stakes, summoned the crack-down officials to sit by and sell 'gwang' (wild cards) on the side, and boasted to the media that the rent received from gamblers was the 'greatest public recovery since Dangun,' but when exposed, he insists the essence of the case is the 'Gwang-gab Gate.'"
He added, "It has already been revealed as a 'major gate.' This is beyond the scale that frontline police or Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo can investigate. It inevitably has to go to a special prosecutor and a national audit."

Earlier, on the 26th, former Professor Jin also targeted Governor Lee. Through his Facebook, he said, "It seems Lee's side is trying to frame this as the 'Kwak Sang-do bribery case,' but it won't be easy," and argued, "If the project itself had been properly designed from the start, why would bribes be necessary? The fact that bribes were exchanged means the project itself is criminal."
He continued, "Who designed that criminal project? For reference, Governor Lee has stated that he designed the project himself," and sarcastically added, "If you want to know what kind of country Lee will create, look at Daejang-dong. After making the whole country like that, he will boast it as the greatest achievement since Dangun."
Meanwhile, on the 14th, Governor Lee held an emergency press conference to confront the allegations surrounding the Daejang-dong development project. He criticized, saying, "The Daejang-dong development is a model public project that prevented private development favoritism and recovered 550.3 billion won for citizen benefits," and added, "There is rampant slander beyond baseless speculation, misinterpretation, distorted reporting, and negativity surrounding the Daejang-dong development project, which is the largest public recovery project since Dangun."
