Communication with novelist Eun Hee-kyung, writer Jeon I-su, musician Harim, and poet Jeong Ho-seung
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seunghyun Jeong] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that it will provide a space for conversations with famous writers at the ‘2021 Mokpo Literature Expo.’
The Mokpo Literature Expo, the first nationwide event themed on literature, will be held from October 7 to 10 under the slogan “Mokpo, from the Beginning of Modern Korean Literature to the Cradle of Future Literature.” Various programs including exhibitions, events, and performances will take place throughout Mokpo, including the Mokpo Literature Museum area, the old downtown, and Peace Square.
Among them, the Publishing Hall is attracting attention. The Publishing Hall, which will be installed at the main venue around the Mokpo Literature Museum in Gatbawi Cultural Town, will feature special exhibitions by major domestic publishers and participation from 20 children’s publishing companies. In particular, with an on-site live studio, it is expected to provide visitors with interest through exhibits that gauge trends in publishing marketing.
The live studio will conduct live commerce and live talk shows via YouTube. Participants include female novelists from Jeolla Province such as Eun Hee-kyung, Gong Seon-ok, and Jeong Ji-a; Jeon I-su, author of ‘Diary of Lee Soo’; famous musician Harim; authorial cartoonist Park Geon-ung, who mainly draws long-form and historical comics; comfort essayist Jang Ah-young; novelist Kim Ho-yeon of ‘The Uncomfortable Convenience Store’; book marketer Deputy Park; and poet Jeong Ho-seung will conclude the program.
Next to the live studio, an exhibition hall showcasing publishing marketing will be set up. Especially, book covers, an important gateway to inducing book purchases, will be exhibited by genre including novels, poetry and essays, humanities, and economics and business.
Book covers from well-known domestic publishers such as Open Books, Gimmyoungsa, Munhakdongne, Minumsa, Dasan Books, Nanda, 21st Century Books, Woongjin Junior, Junior Gimmyoungsa, and Sagyejeol will be displayed, providing an overview of Korea’s publishing marketing.
The book cover exhibition will not just be for viewing but will continue with a ‘My Own Book Cover Editor Experience’ where visitors can create their own covers. Along with this, there will be an experience to compose poetry using provided keywords and create a digital poetry collection.
