[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Cannes Lions Korea announced on the 28th that it will hold the 'SDGs Leaders Forum x Cannes Lions 2021,' focusing on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) themes, online from the 6th to the 15th of next month.

The festival will be held virtually again this year to avoid the spread of COVID-19, following last year's format. This year's festival will be hosted by broadcaster Ahn Hyun-mo and OBS anchor Choi Ji-hae.

On the first day of the event, the 6th, the current status of global companies practicing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ESG management will be introduced.

Starting with a keynote speech by former Ministry of Foreign Affairs Climate Change Ambassador Choi Jae-cheol, ESG seminars from organizations such as UNOSD (United Nations Office for Sustainable Development), Hyundai Motor Company, Samsung Securities, and Shinhan Asset Management will follow.

From the 7th to the 15th, a creativity festival under the theme "Can Brands Save the World?" will take place. On the 7th, Lee Seong-bok, CEO of Cannes Lions Korea, and Nam Go-eun, professor of the Department of Media and Advertising at Keimyung University, will conduct a 'Wrap-up' session highlighting the festival's key moments.

From the 8th to the 15th, creative seminars and lectures will be held focusing on five themes: Brand Activism, Tech Innovation, With Corona, Collaboration, and Beyond Vanilla Content.

Lee Seong-bok, CEO of Cannes Lions Korea, stated, "As all human social behaviors have changed due to the COVID-19 virus attack, the social role of companies in environmental protection, social contribution, and transparent governance has become more urgent than ever. Korean companies have also entered the era of Brand Activism by eagerly declaring ESG management and strengthening their social contributions."

He added, "SDGs and ESG are now directly linked to corporate survival. We aim to explore together at this year's forum what efforts should be made to properly implement ESG and to foster growth for both companies and consumers."
