The purpose is to provide more opportunities for interest and participation from local residents and to discover more diverse ideas for revitalizing the regional economy.

The Gwangju-Jeonnam Development Project Contest was planned to discover projects or ideas that lead to groundbreaking development in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, responding to the rapidly changing business environment and industrial structure amid the economic contraction caused by COVID-19.

This contest has been ongoing for nine weeks since August 2nd, and various ideas related to local issues such as fostering new industries, SOC, and expanding cultural and tourism infrastructure have been submitted.

Any resident of the Gwangju-Jeonnam region can participate individually or as a team, and the contest topics can include any project aimed at regional development and revitalization of the local economy.

Specifically, topics may include ▲ regional development projects for economic vitality recovery ▲ innovative projects leading the 4th Industrial Revolution and the post-COVID era ▲ innovative job creation projects for youth, women, middle-aged, and silver generations ▲ projects related to convergence between existing industries or infrastructure expansion.

Furthermore, outstanding projects discovered through the contest will be reflected in the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce’s business for the following year, proposed to relevant government ministries, or suggested as pledges for the 2022 presidential and local elections.

The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce plans to select 10 excellent projects by the 11th of next month, awarding 10 million KRW to one grand prize winner (team), 3 million KRW each to three excellence award winners (teams), and 1 million KRW each to six prize winners (teams).
