[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House held an emergency meeting of the NSC Standing Committee on the 28th to discuss countermeasures related to North Korea's short-range missile launch. The NSC Standing Committee members expressed regret over North Korea's missile launch.
The Blue House stated, "The government held an emergency meeting of the NSC Standing Committee from 8:00 to 9:15 today, received a report on North Korea's short-range missile launch situation from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Won In-cheol, and discussed response measures."
The NSC Standing Committee reviewed the situation and intent of North Korea's missile launch. The Blue House explained, "(The NSC Standing Committee members) expressed regret over the launch conducted at a time when stability on the Korean Peninsula is critically important, and decided to closely monitor North Korea's future movements while maintaining close consultations with related countries including the United States."
Meanwhile, the NSC Standing Committee meeting was attended by National Security Office Director Suh Hoon, Presidential Chief of Staff Yoo Young-min, Minister of National Defense Seo Wook, Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong, Minister of Unification Lee In-young, Director of the National Intelligence Service Park Jie-won, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Won In-cheol, and First and Second Deputy Directors of the National Security Office Seo Joo-seok and Kim Hyung-jin, respectively.
