[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that as of 0:00 to 18:00 on the 27th, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was preliminarily counted at 466 over 18 hours.
Compared to the same time frame, this is 5 fewer than the 471 cases reported the previous day and 29 more than the 437 cases reported last Monday (the 20th). The final counts were 778 on the 26th and 676 on the 20th.
Among the 466 new cases, 190 patients, accounting for 40.8%, had unknown infection routes. New cases confirmed to have contact with existing patients but not managed as cluster infections numbered 247, making up 53.0% of the total.
Major cluster infection cases included 10 at Garak Market in Songpa-gu, 5 at Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Yongsan-gu, 2 at Jungbu Market in Jung-gu, and 1 at a postpartum care center in Mapo-gu, with an additional 7 cases from other clusters. There were 4 new imported cases reported in Seoul.
As of this time, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Seoul was preliminarily counted at 98,121. The final total number of confirmed cases will be compiled as of 0:00 on the 28th and announced in the afternoon.
