Regarding reports that the daughter (40) of former special prosecutor Park Young-soo recently purchased an apartment in Daejang-dong, which Hwacheon Daeyu had sold, Park's side acknowledged the purchase but stated on the 27th that there was no special favor involved.
Park's former special prosecutor team stated in the 'Explanation on the Apartment Sale Process' document distributed to the media that day, "It is true that (his daughter) purchased a remaining unit apartment due to contract cancellations and non-contracts around June 2021."
They added, "The apartment purchased (Pangyo First Hill Prugio) was acquired through normal procedures in accordance with housing supply laws, at a sale price set by the company according to regulations," and emphasized, "There was no special favor such as price reduction, and the payment was made using funds from the sale of an existing house."
They further stressed, "The apartment was one of the remaining units left due to multiple non-contracts, and at that time, anyone could apply through publicly announced procedures such as additional occupant announcements."
They also added, "Since only the company knows the detailed circumstances regarding the handling of the remaining unit apartments, please verify the detailed information through the company."
The daughter of the former special prosecutor purchased one apartment (84㎡) in Daejang-dong sold by Hwacheon Daeyu in June. This apartment was initially sold to another person but the contract was canceled, so it became part of the company’s holdings managed by Hwacheon Daeyu.
She joined Hwacheon Daeyu in June 2015 and has worked there until recently, and it is known that she is currently undergoing retirement procedures.
The former special prosecutor himself worked as a legal advisor for Hwacheon Daeyu from 2015 until just before his special prosecutor appointment in November 2016, reportedly receiving about 200 million KRW annually. He is also known to have a close relationship with Kim Man-bae, a major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu and a former economic newspaper legal affairs reporter.
