Sahmyook University Hosts Academic Seminar on 'Korean Church and Public Responsibility'

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju]The Samyook University Institute of Theology (Director Kim Sangrae) will hold an academic seminar on the theme of ‘The Korean Church and Public Responsibility’ starting at 11 a.m. on the 29th.The event will be held online and broadcast live in real time through the Samyook University Institute of Theology YouTube channel.


Moderated by Professor Choi Kyungcheon, Deputy Director of the Institute of Theology (Department of Theology, Samyook University), the seminar will feature presentations on the following topics: △Pastor Lee Hunjae (Editor-in-Chief of Sijosa’s monograph series) ‘Recent Trends and Flows of Anglican Public Theology’ △Pastor Kim Kihyun (Adjunct Professor, Department of Liberal Arts, Korea Baptist Theological University) ‘Calling the Dead Samuel: Some Sketches on Public Theology’ △Professor Bong Wonyoung (Department of Theology, Samyook University) ‘Understanding and Practice of Public Theology in the Korean Adventist Church’ △Professor Jung Sungjin (Ethics Director, Institute of Theology) ‘Ethics Education’.


Director Kim Sangrae of the Institute of Theology said, “The pursuit of the public nature of theology is, in a sense, an effort to seek the essence of Christian faith,” adding, "It is a proper task to consider how the church can realize the public good in issues such as the global environment, social structure, and community relationships.”
