Jinju City to Hold Reduced-scale Citizen's Day Event 2019 Citizen's Day Event Venue

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 27th that the '26th Jinju Citizens' Day Event' scheduled for October 10 will be held on a reduced scale due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

This year's event will be attended by a small number of about 30 people, including representatives of towns and villages, and will include the reading of the Citizen Charter and the presentation of the Citizen Award.

The city established October 10 as Citizens' Day to commemorate the victory day of the Jinju Fortress Battle during the Imjin War 429 years ago, and has held the Citizens' Day event annually.

A Jinju city official said, "We apologize for not being able to celebrate Citizens' Day, a day for all citizens to unite and enjoy together, with many citizens," and added, "We will hold a small but meaningful event."

Meanwhile, this year's Citizen Award will be given to Jung Young-su (76, current CJ Global Management Advisor), a businessman who has worked to promote Jinju's excellence and competitiveness worldwide and former chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Singapore.
