'Chuseok Aftermath' Continues... 18 New Cases Confirmed Today in Gwangju

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The spread of infections continues in the Gwangju area due to contact infections from other cities following the Chuseok holiday.


According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 27th, as of 2 p.m. that day, 18 additional confirmed cases were reported, classified as numbers 4902 to 4919.


Among the confirmed cases related to foreigner testing in Gwangsan-gu, 9 people tested positive, including 3 who were confirmed while in quarantine.


There were 6 confirmed cases related to other cities such as Seoul, Daegu, Busan, and Incheon, with 1 of them testing positive before being released from quarantine.


Two cases are related to patients with unknown infection routes, and 1 symptomatic patient currently has an unidentified infection route.


On the 26th, a full inspection was conducted at a middle school in Gwangsan-gu where case number 4894, confirmed positive through proactive testing, works. Except for the index patient, all tested negative. The 156 contacts who were isolated have been released from self-quarantine.


Looking at recent cases by type, foreigner testing in Gwangsan-gu accounted for the highest number with 331 cases.


Next were 107 cases related to workplaces employing foreigners in Gwangsan-gu, 41 cases related to a middle school in Buk-gu, 19 cases related to family gatherings in Seo-gu, 10 cases related to entertainment facilities in Seo-gu, 6 cases related to entertainment establishments in Seo-gu, and 9 cases related to bathhouses in Dong-gu.


Meanwhile, health authorities plan to form inspection teams to focus on educating citizens who gather outdoors for drinking after business hours at pubs and similar venues, urging them to comply with quarantine rules.
