Cheongam University, United Volunteer Group Conducts 'Sharing Love' Volunteer Activities

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Cheongam University (President Seo Hyung-won) United Volunteer Group (Director Professor Shin Cheol-geun) announced on the 27th that they carried out joint volunteer activities such as organizing the homes of elderly people living alone and cleaning Dongcheon with the spirit of love and sharing.

Due to difficulties in face-to-face volunteering caused by COVID-19, about 30 volunteers from departments including Optometry, Emergency Rescue, Beauty and Cosmetology, and Dental Hygiene participated in this volunteer activity.

Shin Cheol-geun, director of the United Volunteer Group, said, “Cheongam University United Volunteer Group has visited social welfare facilities and facilities for the disabled that need volunteer help every year and conducted major-related volunteer activities by club. However, since last year, due to difficulties in face-to-face volunteering caused by COVID-19, we have been conducting disinfection activities in public places vulnerable to COVID-19 exposure, organizing the homes of elderly people living alone, and disinfecting and cleaning bus stops, thereby enhancing the image of the university as a community-serving institution.”

Meanwhile, Cheongam University’s United Volunteer Group consists of about 40 members from five nursing and health-related departments. Last year, they participated in flood relief volunteer work in the Gurye area, sincerely contributing to flood recovery. This year, starting with volunteer activities on the 24th, they plan to clean vulnerable areas in the Shindae district on the 8th of next month, disinfect and clean bus stops on the 29th, and conduct joint volunteer activities at the Jorye Social Welfare Center on November 5th and the Dongbu Social Welfare Center on the 12th, thereby contributing to regional development as a university dedicated to volunteering.
