[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Chosun University International Cooperation Leading University Development and Support Project Group (Project Director Kim Jin-hee) successfully held a publication commemorative event for the nursing national textbook at Mongol National University and was honored with the Minister of Health Award from Mongolia.
According to Chosun University on the 27th, the publication commemorative event held on the 15th at Mongol National University was organized to celebrate the publication of nursing major textbooks published through the advanced nursing education project in Mongolia conducted by Chosun University, and to commemorate the designation of six of these books as Mongolia’s national textbooks.
At the commemorative event, Project Director Professor Kim Jin-hee was highly recognized by the Mongolian government for her contributions to the development of nursing education in Mongolia and received the Minister of Health Award. The Minister of Health Award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of Mongolia’s healthcare sector and is known as the highest honor in the healthcare field.
The publication commemorative event was attended by Kim Cheol-sang, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Mongolia; representatives from the Mongolian Ministry of Health (Research Planning Department Manager Be. Bomdelger); the Mongolian Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports (Policy Planning Department Che. Bomangerel); and nursing officials from the Ulaanbaatar City Health Bureau (Che. Sungginsureng), who celebrated the publication of the major textbooks, their designation as national textbooks, and the receipt of the Minister of Health Award.
Additionally, all nursing colleges located in Ulaanbaatar, including the National Nursing College, and nursing departments of national hospitals attended, along with about 120 people including the chairman and executive members of Mongol National University.
Through this project, Chosun University developed a total of 11 nursing textbooks, among which six major textbooks?Basic Nursing 1, Basic Nursing 2, Nursing Ethics, Introduction to Nursing, Critical Thinking and Nursing Process, and Nursing for Cancer Patients?were designated as Mongolia’s national textbooks.
The published nursing textbooks were developed as part of the International Cooperation Leading University Development and Support Project, which has been ongoing since 2017 with support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
The ‘International Cooperation Leading University Development and Support Project’ comprehensively utilizes the resources and capabilities of domestic universities to support the establishment of necessary departments and curriculum improvements within universities in developing countries, as well as community development programs. It also aims to strengthen capabilities by transferring domestic university systems, resources, and experiences, and to promote and spread the Korean-style international development cooperation model.
This project was led by the International Cooperation Leading University Development and Support Project Group (hereinafter referred to as the Project Group) and was developed through manuscript writing by nursing professors from Korea and Mongolia, translation by Mongolian translators, and review by Mongolian nursing professionals.
In particular, the joint participation of Mongolian nursing education sectors, hospital nursing departments, and nursing officers from the Ministry of Health in Mongolia in publishing the nursing textbooks and making joint efforts to improve the quality of nursing education holds great significance. This cooperation is expected to lay the foundation for the future development of nursing in Mongolia.
Project Director Kim Jin-hee said, “I hope the published textbooks will be usefully utilized in the field of Mongolian nursing education and nursing practice,” and added, “I especially thank the Mongolian nursing professionals, Ministry of Health officials, and the executive members of Mongol National University who helped in creating the textbooks.”
Meanwhile, the Chosun University International Cooperation Leading University Development and Support Project Group was recognized for its excellent project achievements, including the development and implementation of a performance-centered curriculum for the nursing department and the establishment of educational infrastructure for the development of the nursing department at Mongol National University.
