[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Regarding rapper Noel (21, real name Jang Yong-jun), son of People Power Party lawmaker Jang Je-won, being booked on charges of assaulting a police officer who requested a breathalyzer test while he was driving without a license, the police stated that they plan to proceed with the case according to standard procedures.

Choi Kwan-ho, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said at a press briefing on the 27th, "The investigation of related parties has been completed, and only the suspect's interrogation remains," adding, "We will handle it according to the usual procedures and methods." He continued, "The suspect was arrested at the scene, and evidence such as the vehicle's black box and closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage has been secured," and explained, "He was intoxicated on the day of the incident, making interrogation impossible, so he was released and handed over to his mother."

Earlier, around 10:30 p.m. on the 18th, Jang was driving a Mercedes-Benz in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, when he caused a collision with another vehicle. When the police officer requested a breathalyzer test and identification, Jang allegedly refused and rammed the officer with his head. Last year, Jang was also prosecuted for charges including drunk driving and driver substitution, receiving a suspended sentence in the first trial.

After the incident was reported, Jang posted on his social media, "I have nothing to say. I will accept all the punishment I deserve and strive to become a more mature member of society." He added, "I sincerely apologize to all my fans and to many people who were harmed because of me."
