[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Kyowon Edu announced on the 27th that it held a book donation ceremony for child welfare facilities to provide more children with opportunities to read.
Kyowon Edu recently donated 20 popular book series, totaling about 6,000 books, to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation in the names of children who completed the '150 (Il-O-Gong) Reading Marathon' campaign. The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation plans to deliver these books to a total of 78 child welfare facilities, including orphanages and child centers in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas, by the end of this month.
The 150 Reading Marathon is a reading promotion campaign that helps children improve literacy and develop balanced reading habits by reading more than 150 books over 15 weeks. Including the recently concluded 5th session, over 63,000 children have participated in this campaign so far, reading a total of more than 6.1 million books.
A Kyowon Edu official said, “We will continue to provide an environment where all children can access a greater amount of quality books, enhancing not only knowledge and emotional development but also literacy that builds the foundational learning stamina through reading.” He added, “We will strive to create an equitable educational environment by continuing various social contribution activities beyond book donations.”
