[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 26th that 46 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported.
By region, there are 10 in Yangsan, 8 in Changwon, 6 in Changnyeong, 4 each in Miryang and Geoje, 3 each in Sacheon, Haman, and Hadong, 2 each in Jinju and Tongyeong, and 1 in Hapcheon. Thirty-three cases are local infections, and the infection routes of the remaining 13 are under investigation.
Among the Yangsan cases, 9 are confirmed cases related to a medical institution located in Yangsan, including 8 hospitalized patients and 1 contact. A total of 731 people, including patients, were tested, and so far 73 have tested positive. The remaining 658 tested negative. The two wards where confirmed cases occurred in the medical institution will be cohort quarantined until October 7 and 8.
Among the 8 confirmed cases in Changwon, 6 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province. One is a friend of a confirmed case related to a foreign restaurant located in Gimhae. The related cumulative confirmed cases total 35. One case is under investigation for the infection route.
Among the 6 confirmed cases in Changnyeong, one is a contact of a confirmed case in Daegu. The infection routes of the other 5 are under investigation.
Among the 4 confirmed cases in Geoje, 3 are family members of confirmed cases from Iksan, Jeonbuk; Mokpo, Jeonnam; and Bonghwa, Gyeongbuk, respectively. One was tested due to symptom onset, and the infection route is under investigation.
Among the 3 confirmed cases in Sacheon, 2 are a friend of a confirmed case within the province and a contact through movement paths, respectively. One is a family member of a confirmed case in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do.
The 3 confirmed cases in Haman were confirmed through tests for hospitalization and symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.
Among the 3 confirmed cases in Hadong, 2 are family members of a confirmed case in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do, and 1 is a family member of a confirmed case in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do. The 2 confirmed cases in Jinju are a family within the province.
The 2 confirmed cases in Tongyeong were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation. The single confirmed case in Hapcheon is a family member of a confirmed case within the province and tested positive during symptom checks while in quarantine.
Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province totals 11,139 (452 hospitalized, 10,654 discharged, 33 deceased). There are 3,473 patients under medical examination and 2,742 under self-quarantine.
Meanwhile, the vaccination rate in the province stands at 74.1% for the first dose and 45.0% for full vaccination.
