BTS Opens '2021 Global Citizen Live'

BTS Opens '2021 Global Citizen Live' Group BTS.

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The group BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) spectacularly opened the '2021 Global Citizen Live.'

The international poverty eradication social movement organization Global Citizen held the large-scale live broadcast event 'Global Citizen Live' on the 26th. Various performances and events filmed in major cities across six continents were live-streamed through the official Global Citizen YouTube channel.

BTS took the stage as the first act in the 'Global Citizen Live' lineup, passionately performing 'Permission to Dance' in Seoul, opening the doors to this massive global event.

The 'Permission to Dance' performance, set against the national treasure Sungnyemun Gate, was a stage that highlighted the beauty of traditional Korean architecture and the vividness of live performance. Filmed at night, numerous lights brilliantly illuminated Sungnyemun, creating a spectacular scene.

Additionally, the stage set, designed with the logo and colors symbolizing Global Citizen, harmonized with Sungnyemun, capturing worldwide attention. The stage set was created in a circular shape to fully convey the beauty of Sungnyemun to the world, and Korean traditional patterns were applied to the stage structure and floor design.

From the beginning to the end of the performance, BTS elevated the energy of 'Global Citizen Live' with bright expressions and lively appearances. In the latter part of the song, 40 dancers appeared at the front of the stage, performing choreography using international sign language meaning 'joy,' 'dance,' and 'peace' together with BTS, bringing both vibrancy and grandeur to the performance.

'Global Citizen Live' was held as part of the Global Citizen campaign to protect the Earth's environment and eradicate poverty. The 24-hour live broadcast featured diverse artists, activists, and leaders performing on stages set in iconic locations of major cities by continent, including New York (Central Park), Paris (Place du Mars), Dubai, London, Los Angeles, Lagos, Rio de Janeiro, and Sydney, starting with BTS's performance in Seoul.

'Global Citizen Live' will be broadcast in a different version from the 24-hour live stream on the US ABC channel at 8 a.m. (Korean time) on the 27th.
