[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] LG Electronics announced on the 26th that it will launch a new model of its guide robot, the 'LG CLOi GuideBot.'
LG Electronics, together with WTC Seoul, the asset and facility management company of the Trade Center, will deploy two new LG CLOi GuideBot units at COEX Mall in Samseong-dong, Seoul, starting next month and conduct a three-month pilot service. This product will provide contactless facility guidance and wayfinding services in the COEX Mall, which has a high volume of foot traffic and complex pathways, and perform location-based and time-specific advertising tasks using mobile double-sided signage.

The LG CLOi GuideBot not only guides visitors to major facilities within the building but also offers a destination companion service by accompanying customers to their destinations. It also sends facility-related information to visitors via text messages. Its docent function is another strength. Due to increased preference for contactless services amid COVID-19, the robot can introduce content and conduct tours for visitors at libraries, museums, and exhibition halls.
The robot is equipped with 27-inch displays on both the front and rear. Customers can easily update the advertisements shown on these screens using the content management system provided by LG Electronics. This enables customized targeted advertising based on specific locations and time slots.
For example, in the morning, it naturally guides visitors to restaurants with messages like "Good morning. Let me introduce brunch restaurants open in the morning," and near the cinema, it promotes newly released movies, maximizing the effect of customized advertising and promotion.
The robot can also perform security tasks by patrolling inside the building and recording footage during late-night hours. The recorded videos are stored on the device, and remote monitoring will be possible. Additionally, it can be integrated with customers' own security solutions.
LG Electronics provides an integrated control system and continuous maintenance services to guide robot customers. The LG CLOi Cloud Station offers comprehensive solutions necessary for system operation, including real-time robot monitoring, remote control, various information, content, schedule, and statistics management. LG Electronics also offers software upgrade packages so customers can continuously enjoy new user experiences.
Meanwhile, the LG CLOi GuideBot, first launched by LG Electronics in 2018, is currently operating at locations such as Incheon Airport, Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, GS Construction model houses, and Hyundai Department Store The Hyundai Seoul.
Rokyuchan Noh, Executive Director of LG Electronics' Robot Business Division, said, "With LG's differentiated robot solutions that can respond to customer needs in various fields such as hotels, hospitals, residences, and F&B, we will provide operational efficiency and service advancement, establishing ourselves as the optimal business partner."
