[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A petition revealing the story of a family man who passed away after receiving the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, leaving behind his wife and two young children, has been made public.

On the 24th, a post titled "I lost my husband and father of my two children overnight after the first Pfizer vaccination" was uploaded on the Blue House National Petition Board.

The petitioner, who identified herself as the wife of the deceased man, Mr. A, said, "My husband, who died two weeks after the first Pfizer vaccine dose, was 35 years old. Our first child is 8 years old, and the second just turned three," she began.

According to the petitioner, Mr. A received his first Pfizer vaccine dose around 9 a.m. on August 30. From the day after the vaccination, he complained of sudden chest pain and difficulty breathing, and medical staff diagnosed him with pneumonia and pulmonary edema of unknown cause.

Eight days after the vaccination, he went into cardiac arrest and ultimately passed away on the 12th. The cause of death was "cardiogenic shock."

The petitioner stated, "My husband had no underlying health conditions, was a non-smoker, and was extremely healthy. Like any other family, we were living an ordinary and happy life, but overnight, I lost my husband, and the children lost their father," she appealed.

She continued, "Because of my husband's death, my family and I finally understood what it means when people say the sky is falling. The young children, who knew nothing, asked, 'Why is daddy so cold?' and 'When will daddy get better so we can go out and play together?'"

She added, "I don't even have time to grieve right now. My family lost its head of household overnight, and as a full-time homemaker, my biggest worry is how to make a living while raising the children alone." She also said, "I never thought such tragic events, which I only saw on the news, would happen to me and my children."

Furthermore, the petitioner urged, "I want to emphasize that what my family went through is a tragic event that can happen to anyone, in any household. I earnestly hope that accurate measures and detailed manuals regarding possible side effects after vaccination will be established to prevent such incidents from recurring."

Meanwhile, according to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team on the 25th, from the 22nd to the 24th, a total of 11,255 new cases of suspected adverse reactions after vaccination were reported to health authorities (Pfizer 6,429 cases, Moderna 3,831 cases, AstraZeneca 937 cases, Janssen 58 cases), bringing the cumulative total to 257,685 cases.

The number of deaths increased by 18 (Pfizer 8, AstraZeneca 7, Moderna 3), but the causal relationship between vaccination and death has not yet been confirmed.

The quarantine authorities plan to verify the association with vaccination through expert evaluations of suspected cases of death or severe adverse reactions in the future.
