Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon Attends Opening Ceremony to Communicate with Foreign Embassies in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the first day of October, the global festival "2021 Seoul World City Culture Festival," enjoyed by Seoul citizens, foreign residents in Korea, foreign embassies in Korea, and people around the world, will open.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the 24th "2021 Seoul World City Culture Festival" will be held from the 1st to the 10th of next month under the theme "Stay Home! Enjoying World City Culture in Seoul."
The opening ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on the first day of the festival, featuring the opening declaration by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, congratulatory speeches by the Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council and the head of the foreign diplomatic corps in Korea, followed by a fusion cultural performance.
This festival is composed of three themes: travel, culture, and food, with participation from 55 foreign embassies in Korea and overseas cities, offering a variety of events and attractions that anyone around the world can enjoy.
On the last day of the festival, the 10th, a real-time closing ceremony (online quiz show) involving Seoul citizens and foreign embassies in Korea, as well as a K-POP Hallyu talk show, will be held to conclude the event in a way that everyone worldwide can enjoy. Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul City, said, "The 'Seoul World City Culture Festival,' now in its 24th year, is the longest-running cultural event in Seoul and a representative global festival of Seoul with participation from 55 foreign embassies in Korea and overseas cities." He added, "Seoul will expand exchanges with overseas cities and strengthen intercity exchanges and cooperation that contribute to citizens' lives and the future of the city."
