[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] LH Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters (Head Lee Jae-ro) announced that starting in September, it has begun elevator installation work in five buildings of Naju Yongsan 1 permanent rental housing, investing a total project cost of 2.5 billion KRW.
Naju Yongsan 1 Complex is a low-rise (6-story) permanent rental housing built in 1991, where about 320 residents, including elderly and disabled people with mobility difficulties, live. However, since elevators have not been installed, residents have experienced inconvenience in mobility.
When installing new elevators in low-rise permanent rental apartments, there have been difficulties due to the increased maintenance costs such as electricity bills, repair and maintenance fees, and regular inspection costs, which add to the management fee burden for low-income residents.
Accordingly, the LH Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters, after continuous consultations with Naju City Hall, succeeded in revising the 'Apartment Management Support Ordinance' in July last year, establishing a basis for local governments to support elevator maintenance costs for permanent rental housing.
Following the ordinance revision, Naju City will provide 12 million KRW annually to support elevator maintenance costs, which is expected to significantly reduce the management fee burden for low-income residents living in LH permanent rental housing.
This low-rise elevator installation project is scheduled to be completed by February next year and is expected to contribute to improving the mobility convenience of residents.
