Advance reservations available until the 30th, second dose period can be shortened by using leftover vaccines
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 24th that COVID-19 vaccination is available for all unvaccinated individuals who have not received or reserved vaccination, coinciding with the completion of the first dose for the young and middle-aged group (18-49 years old).
This is to increase the vaccination rate across all eligible age groups to expand the immune population, in response to the prolonged 4th wave caused by the highly contagious Delta variant.
Unvaccinated individuals aged 18 and over (born on or before December 31, 2003) can make reservations through the existing COVID-19 vaccination pre-reservation website until 6 p.m. on the 30th.
After pre-reservation, vaccinations will be administered with the Moderna vaccine at nationwide designated medical institutions from the 1st to the 16th of next month. However, those not enrolled in health insurance can only receive vaccinations at vaccination centers, and the type of vaccine may change depending on supply conditions.
Additionally, while leftover vaccines were previously only available for the first dose, since the 17th, same-day rapid reservation services via SNS (leftover vaccine reservations through Naver and Kakao apps) and standby lists at medical institutions have been utilized to allow use for the second dose within the permitted intervals for each vaccine (Pfizer 3 weeks, Moderna 4 weeks, AstraZeneca 4-12 weeks).
A county official urged, “We ask those who missed the opportunity and did not make a reservation or receive vaccination to please participate in making reservations and getting vaccinated for the health and safety of their families and neighbors.”
