Suncheon-si to Provide Free Influenza (Flu) Vaccinations This Year

Targeting 80,000 People Including Seniors Aged 65 and Over, Children Under 13, Pregnant Women, and Vulnerable Groups

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 24th that it has started free influenza vaccinations in preparation for the flu epidemic.

The free vaccinations target approximately 80,000 people, including children under 13 years old, pregnant women, seniors aged 65 and over, and vulnerable groups. Since COVID-19 vaccinations are being administered simultaneously, vaccinations will be conducted by different periods according to the target groups and age to ensure safe vaccination.

Children receiving their first vaccination in their lifetime (6 months to 8 years old) and pregnant women started vaccinations on the 14th of last month, and children requiring one dose (9 to 13 years old) will begin vaccinations from the 14th of next month.

For seniors, those aged 75 and over will be vaccinated starting from the 12th of next month, those aged 70 to 74 from the 18th, and those aged 65 to 69 from the 21st.

Additionally, from the 21st of next month, free vaccinations will be provided to basic livelihood security recipients (aged 50 to 64), severely disabled persons (aged 19 to 64), and national merit recipients (aged 50 to 64).

This year, due to simultaneous administration with COVID-19 vaccinations, the number of vaccinations available per medical institution is limited, so it is essential to confirm vaccination availability with the medical institution before getting vaccinated.

Seniors aged 65 and over, basic livelihood security recipients, national merit recipients, and other citizens wishing to be vaccinated must make a reservation in advance through the vaccination pre-reservation system or the Suncheon City Health Center call center.

However, children and pregnant women can receive vaccinations without a reservation by visiting one of the 105 designated medical institutions.
