[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 24th that it will form a mobile inspection team from the 27th of this month to the 26th of next month to intensively crack down on illegal activities within forests.
The mobile inspection team consists of special judicial police officers, public officials, and forest protection patrol officers, and will focus on cracking down on illegal harvesting and collection of forest products such as mushrooms, forest pollution activities, illegal activities related to hiking and camping, and unauthorized mountain land use.
The city plans to take strong measures by filing charges against those caught in the crackdown and subjecting them to judicial processing. In addition, to enhance the effectiveness of the crackdown, a cooperative system will be established with related organizations such as the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers and Sejong Police Station.
Separately, promotional materials for the crackdown will be posted along major roads, and guidance activities will be conducted using village chief meetings, village broadcasts, and electronic display boards.
Lee Gyu-myeong, head of the Forest and Park Division of the city, said, “Through continuous crackdowns, we will prevent damage to residents caused by illegal harvesting of forest products and minimize forest damage caused by various illegal activities.”
